How long have you been in business?
Since June, 1991.
What is your primary product or service?
I provide advice and representation in estate planning, probate, guardianship, Medicaid planning and applications, Medicaid estate recovery claims and consumer bankruptcy. Essentially I help people with Elder Law issues.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I love to read. When I read a book about careers in high school, and then read the book To Kill a Mockingbird I was convinced I could do good for others and not be restricted to doing the same thing repetitively. The Law allows me to indulge in reading for a living. I went to Texas Tech University for my Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting. I then worked with small accounting firms in the Lubbock and Texas Panhandle area for five years before going back to Texas Tech for a law degree.I enjoy explaining the law and helping people avoid the Courtroom more than fighting in the Courtroom.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
I work hard at helping clients understand their options. I explain what can be done to protect themselves against legal issues involving disability and to simplify what needs to be done in the future. I help family members take care of the legal issues when a parent fails to plan for disability in guardianship proceedings, help clients avoid guardianship when I prepare estate plans. I help clients work through an estate plan in probate matters. I see both sides: planning and the doing.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
I have one location with no plans to expand.

I am on the north side of Cales Drive, which is the first street north of Park Row on which a person can turn east. Or I am just north of J.J. Cafe.

Usually Tarrant County and the counties nearby, but I have traveled as far as San Angelo, Tyler and Houston.
